This dreamy Upper Bidwell Park Fall Engagement Session is unlike any other session I have photographed. The light was dreamy and magical. The original day of the session was projected over 40mph winds. Let me tell you, it wouldn’t have been as magical, because everyone would be miserable having to be in the high winds. Christina and Delmar wanted to have a fall engagement session with their wedding day being next August. They were able to snag one of the last remaining dates at The White Ranch Events. Christina has mentioned about having her princess wedding, and let me tell you, that is EXACTLY what she is going to get. Christina loved the idea of her Upper Bidwell Park Fall Engagement Session, but to also add variety, we drove over to another grassy field in Chico where we could get more of a tree line as well as tall grass.

Finding the right photographer is one of the most important steps in the process. You want to find someone that is the right fit and will provide you the images you love. If you love light timeless images you are in the right place, but if you want someone who does dark and moody, we wouldn’t be the perfect fit. Christina wanted to have someone she was comfortable with and it helped she knew me and loved my work. It is important to have this in your photographer even if they are a friend.

How I met the couple

I met Christina a few years ago when she was the store manager at California Sun Tanning Salon. Fast forward a couple years, she changed locations from Chico to the Yuba City store, and I became the manager of the Chico location. During this time, Christina had the pleasure of training me in my new duties. After this, we became great friends and have been friends since. We have an amazing friendship where we can go without talking for awhile, but when we get together we go right from where we left off and are able to have a blast. I was so excited when she contacted me to tell me she was engaged, and even more honored when she wanted me to capture her big day!

I didn’t meet Delmar until the day of the session. Every time I have met up with Christina he was either working or away. Delmar is perfect for Christina and you can tell they make each other truly happy. Delmar wasn’t excited to spend an hour taking pictures, but really what guy wants to spend that much time taking pictures. I know Derek hates it, but he does it when I want updated pictures. I always make it a goal with my to make it a fun time for my grooms, because I want them to have a great time. Delmar was able to have a good time.

Fall Engagement Session Planning

One of the things I always tell my couples is they can’t get too dressed up. Also hair and makeup is something the bride should consider. It is a day to get pampered, possibly on a hair and makeup trial day, but you will feel beautiful and the professionals know how much make up to use and style your hair to look amazing. The makeup artist Christina used is Danise with Danise Mae Mua. Hair was done by Lexie with Hair by Lexie. Both of them did an amazing job.
