Hello and welcome! I am SO glad you are here to who the Photographer behind the camera is. My name is Heather and I am the sole photographer, editor, blogger for Heather Avrit Photography. As you continue to read, I will tell you a little about my business and why I started HAP. More importantly I will tell you about me. I think it is important for my clients to learn and know who I am too.
I have lived in Chico for about 10 years and have been with my husband half of that time. Initially, I moved to Chico to attend Chico State. I attended the University for about two semesters. Since I had to work a full-time job to support myself I left Chico State and completed the rest of my schooling through Florida International University where I received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology. In the last year I have completed my Masters of Science Degree in Legal Studies from National Juris University! By now you are probably thinking “Heather, why are you not doing anything with your degree’s?”, well don’t worry I have plans and goals I am working towards!
On a personal note, I love DISNEY! If I could drag my husband to Disneyland or Disney World all the time I would. I am a kid at heart. I love to have a good time and enjoy the time I spend with family and friends. Another love for me is movies. I can’t narrow down a favorite, because there are just too many good ones. I love rainy days to where I can curl up on the couch with a blanket, a warm drink, watch a good movie and cuddle with my Husky who thinks he is a lap dog! He has his spot next to me as soon as I lay down his designated blanket. Derek will probably tell you I spoil them too much.
The Photographer and the Business!!
Alright now you get to know to the photographer behind the camera and how Heather Avrit Photography started! I started my business in February 2020 right before COVID! My initial business plan was Wedding Planning with the thought of adding photography services. I love planning and was told after mine and Derek’s wedding I should be a wedding planner since I enjoy the task too much! A lot of thought went into the plan of starting a business and deciding if it was something I would enjoy doing. After a year of thinking, talking about it, putting a business plan together I decided to go out of my comfort zone and start my business which was formally known as “Heather’s Forever Events”.
Since COVID I started thinking of ways I could add to my business and how I could make it better during the down time I had with no weddings moving forward. I decided I was going to turn my hobby of photography into part of my business and start adding it as an option. The more I got into photography, the more I realized I wanted to capture the love of the couple!
As of August 2020 I dropped the wedding planning side of my business, changed my business to Heather Avrit Photography and dived right into photography. The decision was tough, but worth it. I couldn’t be happier! For 2021, I have come up with great plans for my business and clients. I can’t wait to continue to grow and share my plans and growth with all of you.
Thank you so much for getting to know the photographer behind the camera, I can’t wait to get to know you and serve you on your big day or capture some special moments of your family! If you want to know about booking a session click here!

Fueled by equal parts coffee and wine, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Whether it's your story, your love, or your accomplishment I can't wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
And I can't wait to get to know you!
